The Special Monitoring Mission of International Human Rights Commission in Delta State under the responsible leadership of the Secretary-General: Prof. h.c. Sir Rafal Marcin Wasik through the Nigeria Country Head: Ambassador Dr. Sani Friday has honored His Royal Majesty Duku with a Certificate of Appreciation for his devotion and sacrifice towards the fight against COVID-19, and for the help in protecting the less privileged from the pandemic's effect.
The Award was today 23rd November 2020, presented to His Royal Majesty by the delegates of IHRC led by the Delta State Representative Fidelis Onakpoma, at his royal office in the Effurun-Otor Kingdom, Ughelli South LGA Delta State.
Recall that HRM King Dr. Johnson Duku played a credible role in the fight against COVID-19 to curtailing the spread of the global pandemic.
He established a Coronavirus Sensitization Organization enshrined with the responsibility to educate the people of his Kingdom and in the diaspora on the basic doctrines from the World Health Organisation(WHO) such as observing social distancing, the use of the nose mask, etc, to curtail the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking at the presentation, Fidelis Onakpoma noted that the International Human Rights Commission does not only protect people's rights, but also support the efforts of individuals, both in the private and public sectors, government, and organizations in a way of appreciation, for their contributions in community development.
Your Majesty, having assessed your astute contribution in the issues of health which has been strongly expressed through the Coronavirus Sensitization Organization as a vehicle for helping the needing and giving back to the society; social sustainability, and the credible role you are playing towards ensuring peace and just society, this award eclats with our notification for your recommendation with the appointment into the supreme council of our Intergovernmental Organization in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he added.

The confidence in our choice as an Organization did not waver as it made following careful consideration of your beliefs in the virtues of servant leadership, public and health-care, and social responsibility.
As a nominee, we look forward to the acceptance of our recommendation as the Nigeria Central Office of IHRC will further submit your recommendation to the headquarters for appointment into our Supreme Council.
On behalf of the Secretary-General IHRC and Nigeria Country Head, please accept our heartiest congratulations.
In response, HRM King Dr. Johnson E.Y. Duku acknowledged with great interest the honor endowed on him by the International Human Rights Commission and noted that the Organization is in the right step in ensuring the protection of people's rights. Many people's rights are violated daily which some of them lack the power to gain their freedom or sometimes feel incapacitated. IHRC should continue in this step in ensuring people's dignity is not violated, he commended.
